Not Cooling Properly
If your refrigerator is not cooling your food properly, check for these common issues.
Dirty Condenser Coils
Clogged condenser coils can prevent your food from being cooled properly. Check to see if your condenser coils are clean. Many people do not realize that these coils need to cleaned every 6 months to a year in order to function efficiently. If these become coated with dust and dirt they cannot dissipate heat efficiently.
Evaporator Fan Motor
Checking the evaporator fan motor is also essential. It is common for the evaporator fan motor to become defective or stop working altogether. A panel in back of the refrigerator can be removed to reveal the evaporator fan. Since the fan will usually not run when the refrigerator door is open, the door switch must be activated in order for the fan to work. If the evaporator fan motor still does not work after the door switch is activated and the freezer repair Tunnel is cooling, it needs to be replaced.
Frosted Evaporator Coils
Evaporator coils that are covered with frost are another culprit of improper cooling. When these coils are coated with ice, the freezer cannot get cold enough. The defrost heater automatically turns on for a few minutes a day to defrost the evaporator coils. When the defrost system is not functioning properly, the coils will not be able to provide cool air to the freezer. A professional will need to repair your defrost system.
Not Dispensing Ice
An ice cold beverage is always refreshing. When you selected a refrigerator with a built in ice maker, you envisioned that you would never again have to fill ice trays. It is frustrating when your ice dispenser is not working. If ice is not dispensed by pressing the button it is highly likely that the auger motor has stopped working. This motor spins a blade that forces ice towards an auger chute. Before you go through the trouble of replacing the auger motor, remove your ice bucket and make sure that the auger blade is turning properly. Make sure that the auger blade has not simply become disconnected from the motor. It is also wise to check the ice crusher blade. Warm water can melt the ice around the blade. Observe this blade to see if it is bent or broken. If you cannot resolve the issue, you should contact a skilled repairman.
Freezer Runs Too Long
Check your thermostat if your refrigerator repair Tunnel runs for long periods of time. Test the thermostat by dragging it all the way from start to stop. Listen for the click. If the thermostat clicks it is probably still functioning properly, otherwise replace it. A skilled repairman can quickly resolve this problem.
